HOW TO USE A BODY OIL

For those of us who are used to using a body lotion, switching to a body oil can be overwhelming.  Worries about becoming a greasy mess might make you hesitate to ditch the lotions, but once you know how to use a body lotion properly you'll be glad you made the switch.

The fact is, most lotions already contain oils.  Lotions are simply an emulsion of oils and water.  Most of them are only made with about 10-15% moisturizing oils, and the rest is mainly water.

Not only does the addition of water as a filler mean that you are buying expensive water, it also means that lotions require harmful preservatives.  Any cosmetic product that contains water and does not require refrigeration must use a preservative to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold.

Body oils (like our ostrich oil) can do anything your body lotions do and so much more.  And because they aren't diluted, they moisturize deeper, last longer, and give you much more bang for your buck.

Advantages of using ostrich oil instead of body lotion:

  • An all-over ostrich oil application lasts much longer than a lotion application.  This means skin will stay soft and moisturized for longer, even in extreme temperatures and dry climates.
  • Pure Ostrich Oil doesn't require preservatives!  No chemicals to worry about putting on your skin and no mold or bacteria growth.
  • Save money with undiluted, moisturizing ostrich body oil.

The key to getting the most out of ostrich oil is to use it correctly.  The proper application makes all the difference!

APPLY TO WET SKIN

When oils are applied to dry skin, they take longer to absorb and can leave behind a greasy layer.  And if your skin is already lacking in moisture, adding oils to dry skin won't re-hydrate nearly as well.

The solution is to apply body oils on wet skin, preferably after a shower, lightly pat your skin with a towel but leave most of the water on your skin.  Take a small amount of lotion (about a dime size) and massage into your skin for a few seconds.  This allows the moisture (the water droplets from your shower) and the oils to penetrate the skin's outer layer, creating a moisturizing barrier, essentially creating a body lotion.

The result is moisturized skin that stays hydrated deeper, for longer.  You will find you don't need to apply several times throughout the day like you would with a lotion.
